New Delhi, Nov 1: Calling it an indirect strategy of helping UPA, BJP slammed the "Third Front" as a failed idea.

Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley also criticized a meeting of 14 parties on Wednesday for failing to target the ruling UPA for issues such as mismanagement of the economy and corruption.

"The conference was not in tandem with strong public opinion where there is a sense of revulsion against the present government on account of the serious corruption scandals. There is a complete disillusionment with the leadership of the UPA.", Jaitley said.

None of the 14 parties is concerned over corruption of the ruling Congress or threats to security emerging from terrorist incidents or the mismanagement of the country's economy, Jaitley said.

Such parties, some of whom have shared power with BJP in the past, adopt two old strategies - of opposing BJP on principle of anti-communalism and supporting it on principle of "anti-Congressism", he added.

In a separate statement, BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu said majority of parties which were part of the convention had supported or were supporting the Congress regime, says a Times of India report.
