Cloud computing launched in two TN schools
The directorate of School Education launched cloud computing in two schools in the state on Thursday as part of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-based education scheme.
Students from the Government High School in MGR Nagar and Government Girls High School in Sriperumbudur will be able to learn and interact with students from other schools using cloud computing, which facilitates Internet-based learning.
Through a memorandum of understanding signed with Learning Links Foundation, the government has given 11 laptops, 13 tablets, an interactive board, a projector, a printer and Wi-Fi connection to the schools in collaboration with Dell.
A resource person has also been assigned to help the students with cloud computing technology, which has been introduced in two schools for the first time in India, according to the directorate of school education.
So far, more than 10 lakh students have been benefited by the government's ICT scheme. The government has proposed to introduce the scheme in 4,340 high schools and higher secondary schools.
The project was launched by higher education minister P Palaniappan. Director of school education V C Rameswaramurugan and education secretary D Sabitha were also present on the occasion.
