Dhaka, Oct 28: The opposition strike in Bangladesh seems to grow bigger by the day. According to police, the supporters of the main opposition BNP stabbed a worker of the Ruling Awami League to death. Meanwhile, a driver got killed while avoiding the stoppage when he rushed only to get crashed.
In another incident, the president of a sub-district unit of BNP was attacked with a bomb and stabbed to confirm his death. "A gang of up to eight miscreants carried out the attack, exploding crude bombs as Mr Abul Hussain was having tea in a stall... they later stabbed him to confirm his death," a police officer said.
While an 18 year old BNP supporter was killed, a bus ferrying Muslim Pilgrims from Haj was attacked, injuring an elderly woman critically. Given the tight-rope situation, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has warned the rival Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to com eto a dialogue, failing which the former will begin a 60-hour hartal.
