Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has rubbished reports claiming that he and Rekha, who were rumoured to be dating in the '70s, are doing a movie together. "I am not doing it (film with Rekha). I read about it but there is no truth to it. But if you know anybody there (at Chopra's production company) then suggest my name. Since it is difficult to get work these days," the 71-year-old said at a function on Sunday.
The actors, who last worked together in the 1981 hit, Silsila, have been in the news ever since a photo that showed them travelling on the same plane went viral on the web, in October.
Soon after the photo was leaked, a report claimed that filmmaker Aditya Chopra had managed to convince the two to star in a film together.
Before Chopra, producer Firoz Nadiadwala and director Anees Bazmee were keen on casting Bachchan and Rekha in Welcome Back. However, Naseeruddin Shah and Dimple Kapadia were eventually roped in for their parts. In 2009 too, rumours about Bachchan and Rekha doing Sujoy Ghosh's Aladin did the rounds.
One of Bollywood's most famous onscreen pair, Bachchan and Rekha first acted together in Do Anjaane in 1976. They went on to deliver several hit films like Muqaddar Ka Sikander (1978), Mr Natwarlal (1979) and Suhaag (1979).
