Modi and Advani arrive to lay Statue of Unity's foundation stone

Bharuch, Oct 31: Narendra Modi and LK Advani have reached the venue of the foundation laying ceremony of the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel statue in Kevadia.

11: 40 am: Narendra Modi takes over the stage. Greets everyone.

11:35 am: Advani thanks Modi for inviting him to the occasion. "I am thankful that Narendra Modi invited me to this occasion and asked me to say a few words."

11:25 am: Speaking about Sardar Patel's greatness, Advani said, "If Sardar Patel was not in the leadership of India during those days, India would have been divided into two parts but many parts."

11.15 am: LK Advani said, "The independence struggle was not just under Gandhiji, Sardar Patel and other Congress leaders but many other freedom fighters. Chandrashekhar and Bhagat Singh were also a part of the freedom struggle. Everyone was honest and devoted towards the freedom struggle, only their ways were different."

11.00 am: Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and BJP senior leader LK Advani reach venue in Bharuch, Gujarat, to lay the foundation stone of grand "Statue of Unity" in Kevadia.

Modi is set to lay the foundation stone of the statue at 12.49 pm.

LK Advani speaks at the venue about the greatness of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and how India got freedom with the help of this "Iron man".

AP bus accident: Relatives arrive to identify loved ones

Hyderabad/Bangalore, Oct 30:

The tragic incident of a Volvo bus burning to chars has left the victims' families helpless and scarred for life. It was a heart wrenching scene when relatives identified (if they could) their loved ones. Nevertheless, each of them were charred beyond recognition. There were just 7 survivors, including the driver and the cleaner, while the rest were engulfed by fire when the bus hit a divider and the fuel tank burst into flames. It was a matter of a minute till the entire bus was charred.

On its way from Hyderabad to Bangalore, the bus met with the mishap at 5:15 am. It is alleged that the bus was trying to overtake a car when it lost control and hit a divider. "The automatic locking system is there for these vehicles. The driver apparently did not understand the mechanism and opened the door. Had he opened the door, perhaps some people have escaped," said Girija Shankar, the District Collector of Mahbubnagar.

The driver and the cleaner have been taken into custody and have been questioned. According to them, it was a tyre burst that caused a mishap. However, owner of Jabbar travels Jameel Jabbar has denied any lapses. "As far as the vehicle is concerned, there was no problem with the vehicle, all documents are perfect, the road permit, authorization, fitness cart, all have been issued. The vehicle was in proper running condition and proper service was being done for the vehicle," he said.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the unidentified will be kept in Osmania hospital. DNA match is likely to take a week.

பசும்பொன் முத்து ராமலிங்க தேவரின் 106–வது பிறந்தநாள் விழா இன்று கொண்டாடப்பட்டது. இதையொட்டி சென்னை நந்தனத்தில் உள்ள தேவர் சிலை அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது. சிலையின் கீழ் பகுதியில் முத்துராமலிங்க தேவரின் திருவுருவ படம் மலர்களால் அலங்கரித்து வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.

முதல்–அமைச்சர் ஜெயலலிதா காலை 10.30 மணிக்கு தேவர் படத்துக்கு மலர் தூவி அஞ்சலி செலுத்தினார். அவரை தலைமை செயலாளர் ஷீலா பாலகிருஷ்ணன் பூங்கொத்து கொடுத்து வரவேற்றார்.

அமைச்சர்கள் ஓ.பன்னீர் செல்வம், நத்தம் விசுவநாதன், அ.தி.மு.க. அவைத் தலைவர் மதுசூதனன் ஆகியோர் வரவேற்று அழைத்துச் சென்றனர்.

அப்போது அங்கு திரண்டிருந்த தொண்டர்கள் புரட்சித் தலைவி வாழ்க என்று கோஷங்கள் எழுப்பினார்கள். தொண்டர்களை பார்த்து ஜெயலலிதா இரட்டை விரலை காட்டி கையசைத்தார். பெண்கள் பால்குடம், முளைப்பாரி எடுத்து வரவேற்றனர். அந்த பகுதி முழுவதும் அ.தி.மு.க. கொடி, தோரணங்களுடன் விழாக் கோலம் பூண்டிருந்தது.

பசும்பொன்னில் நேற்று முன்தினம் தேவர் ஜெயந்தி குரு பூஜை விழா துவங்கியது. ஏராளமானோர் முளைப்பாரி மற்றும் பால்குடம் எடுத்து ஊர்வலமாக வந்தனர். முடி காணிக்கை செலுத்தியும், பொங்கல் வைத்தும் அவர்கள் வழிபட்டனர். கடலாடியிலிருந்து 10 ஆயிரத்திற்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் நேற்று போலீஸ் தடையை மீறி பேரணியாக சென்ற அவர்கள் முதுகுளத்தூரை அடைந்தனர்.முதுகுளத்தூர் வழியாக பசும்பொன் செல்ல அனுமதிக்குமாறு பேரணியில் வந்தவர்கள் போலீசாரிடம் வலியுறுத்தினர். முதுகுளத்தூரிலும் ஆயிரம் பேர் பால்குடத்துடன் ஊர்வலமாக புறப்பட்டனர். இதனால் பரபரப்பு ஏற்பட்டது. டிஐஜி அமல்ராஜ் நடத்திய பேச்சுவார்த்தைக்கு பிறகு அவர்கள் அனைவரும் அரசு பஸ்களில் பசும்பொன் புறப்பட்டு சென்றனர்.

 கைகளில் கட்டை மற்றும் கம்புகளுடன் காவல்துறையினரை மீறி சென்றதால் பதற்றமான சூழல் உருவானது.இதேபோல, கணக்கி, நல்லாங்குளம், உடையநாதபுரம், மேலபாறைக்குளம் ஆகிய கிராமங்களில் இருந்து சுமார் ஆயிரம் பேர் நடைபயணமாக பசும்பொன் புறப்பட்டனர். அவர்களை தடுத்து நிறுத்திய போலீசார், பஸ்களில் செல்லுமாறு அறிவுறுத்தினர். இதைக் கண்டித்து அருப்புக்கோட்டை & கமுதி சாலையில் கிராம மக்கள் மறியலில் ஈடுபட்டனர். இதனால் அங்கு போக்குவரத்து பாதிக்கப்பட்டது.அசம்பாவிதங்களைத் தடுக்க, கிராம மக்களை நடைபயணமாக செல்ல காவல்துறையினர் அனுமதி வழங்கினர். இதனால் இப்பகுதி முழுவதும் பதற்றம் நிலவுகிறது. போலீசார் அங்கு குவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.
